Dr. Ajit Bhagwat

heads the department of Cardiology at the Kamalnayan Bajaj Hospital in Aurangabad, Maharashtra in India.

 

The only American Board Certified interventional cardiologist in the state of Maharashtra, Dr. Bhagwat completed his MBBS graduation from Government Medical College, Aurangabad in 1982 by topping at all the university examinations and scoring highest number of marks in every subject at all MBBS examinations. He did his MD (Medicine) examination in 1986 with gold medal.

To top it all, he won the prestigious Ivan Pinto gold medal at DM cardiology examination from Mumbai university in 1990. After working as a lecturer in Cardiology at the division of cardiology at TN Medical college & BYL Nair hospital, Mumbai for two years, he moved to the US in 1992 where he completed his residency & fellowship in cardiology from the famous University of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, Ohio.

After obtaining the American Board Certification in Cardiology, he returned to India in 1998 and decided to settle down in Aurangabad, his hometown, which is a medium sized rapidly growing city about 250 km from Mumbai. He established the first cardiac cath lab in the region at the Kamalnayan Bajaj hospital in 1998. Today this institution has grown under his leadership & has become the busiest & the highest volume cardiac center in this area with state of the art facilities & the equipment.
